Blockhouse

You like having a home that will keep you safe when the undead apocalypse occurs and hordes of ravenous zombies eat your neighbors in an orgy of human suet. You like blockhouses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockhouse).

The well-appointed blockhouse can be a homey but secure residence for passing decades of isolation. The unholy shrieks of mobile corpses will barely penetrate the thick stone or log walls. Cannon ports on the second floor double as windows, affording spectacular views over the sea of rotting flesh below. Boredom can be alleviated by individually naming each of the festering bodies laying siege to your home. Or, if you thought to give refuge to a few live companions, you might enjoy multiplayer games of Risk.
