You like drinking macha tea out of a $3,000 chawan like this: http://www.trocadero.com/modernceramicsjapan/items/658950/item658950.html
It's handmade, of course. The potter uses a technique called kurinuki (http://www.e-yakimono.net/html/kaneta-masanao-pt.html) in which the form is dug out of clay rather than thrown on a wheel. The white color is provided by a traditional oni-hagi glaze (a glaze from the Japanese town of Hagi characterized by it's thick, smooth texture and white color, and the way it crawls, revealing clay beneath). And yes, this is the second piece of art I'm telling you to like in less than a week. Tough shit, this isn't a democracy.
This is a very good piece of pottery - just a hair's-breadth short of spectacular. And drinking your morning joe, tea or OJ out of a bowl that costs three grand will allow you to forever act superior to the dickheads who actually use the term "venti" when ordering at Starbucks. It's gotta be worth a few thou just to say, "I drink my one-size morning Maxwell out of a kurinuki oni-hagi chawan, so suck it."
